Stand-Out Players From The Tour Basketball FestGiving Classic 2020 Day 1

The 2020 Edition of The Tour Basketball Festgiving  held in New Orleans, LA has came and went.  There was plenty of good basketball played during the 2 day event.

Some of the teams and players that attended this first-class event went home showing why they are ranked and have the name they have in the state, solidifying their positions as true title contenders in their respective class and  true next level prospects, while other teams and players went home with a buzz created by their showing at the event, putting the State on notice that they deserve to be in the state championship, next level prospect conversation.

Here are the stand-outs from Day 1 of The Tour Basketball Festgiving Classic 2020.

Porter Lichtl (Class Of ’21) 6-3 Forward – Jesuit

*Scored 17 points on the day

*Did a good job of moving without the ball

*Showcased A very high basketball I.Q.

*Played with great instincts and patience

*Was very active on the defensive end

*Scored the ball a variety of ways from knocking down the 3 to driving and cutting to the rim

*Did a good job of getting to the free-throw line

*Played hard on both ends the entire game

 

N’Derius Walker (Class Of ’23) 6-0 Guard – East Ascension

*Scored 20 points on the day

*Did a good job of playing through contact and initiating contact to get to the free throw line

* Did a good job of penetrating into the lane and getting to the rim

*Defended at a high level

*Was in attack mode the entire game always looking to go right at his defender

*Showed excellent court vision and a high level of hustle

*Did a good job of facilitating and setting his teammates up

*Shot the ball well from the free throw line

 

John Paul Ricks (Class Of ’22) 6-0 PG – Jehovah Jireh

*Made a number of clutch plays down the stretch of the game

*Played a great defensive game.

*Did a good job of putting pressure on the ball handler

*Did a excellent job of playing through double teams and fight through screens

*Played well through contact

*Scored 21 points on the day

*Did a good job of running the offense and controlling tempo

*Showed the ability to get to any spot he wanted to get to on the court

*Did a good job of getting to the free throw line

*Finished well at the rim

*Was very effective scoring the ball from the mid-range area

 

Brandon Harton (Class Of ’21) 6-3 Forward – Jehovah Jireh

*Scored 19 Points

*Played great on the defensive end blocking and disrupting a number of shots

*Ran the court well and played with a lot of energy.  A truly high motor athlete

*Did a great job of moving without the ball

*Showed his ability to step out and knock down shots from the perimeter

*Rebounded the ball at a high level

*Did a good job of making passes out of the double team

*Did a good job of passing out the post

*Did a good job of moving with the ball and setting screens

*Made hard nosed hustle plays the entire game.

 

Alexzaye Johnson (Class Of ’22) 6-3 PG – Helen Cox

*Made a number of clutch shots

*Defended At a high level

*Played an excellent floor game from the PG position

*Consistently put his teammates in position to score baskets

*Did a good job of getting to the rim and controlling the pace

*Did a good job of playing through contact and getting to the free throw line

*Solid job of finishing at the rim

*Was able to control the tempo

*Played very under-control. Never allowed his defender to dictate his play

*Scored 15 points on the day

 

Lakevion Fortenberry (Class Of ’21) 5-8 Guard – Helen Cox

*Put on an elite shooting display knocking down a number of 3 point shots

*A dead eye 3 point shooter

*Played with a high degree of toughness

*Consistently pressured the ball

*Played tough, lock-down defense the entire afternoon

*Scored 24 points on the day

*Didn’t rush or force anything offensively.

*Took smart shots and scored the majority of his points in the flow of the game

*Very smart player

*Finished well through contact.

 

Zavier Sims (Class Of ’21) 6-2 Guard – Liberty Magnet

*Finished well at the rim

*Scored 23 points on the day

*Made big plays on both ends down the stretch of the game

*Shot the ball well from the outside

*Did a good job of sharing the ball and getting everyone involved.

*Played a solid defensive game.  Did a great job defending on and off the ball

*Showed that he knows how to take the lead and run the offense

*Did a good job of handling the ball and seeing the floor

*Showed toughness fight

 

Cole White (Class Of ’23) 6-6 Forward – Holy Cross

*Scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds on the day

*Was very active on the boards

*Played with energy hustle the entire day

*Totally engaged on both end of the court

*Did a good job of getting to the rim and finishing

*Moved well without the ball constantly making cuts to the rim and setting screens

*Was able to step out and shoot the perimeter shot

*Was solid on the defensive end the entire day

*Showed toughness and grit

 

Nasir De Gruy (Class Of ’21) 6-2 Guard – St. Augustine

*Repeatedly took advantage of smaller guards that defended him by repeatedly back the smaller guards down and turning to shoot over the top of the smaller defender

*Scored 23 points on the day

*Did an excellent job of attacking the rim

*Was very aggressive on the offensive end

*Showed a level of calmness and poise down the stretch

*Was able to get to effectively get to the free-throw line

*Showcased elite mid-range scoring ability

*Excellent ball handles and facilitating skills were on full display

*Did a excellent job of distributing the ball and finding his teammates

*Easily got to the spots he wanted to get to

*Played very well on the defensive end coming up with a number of steals and defensive stops

 

Jalen Bolden (Class Of ’22) 6-4 Forward – Zachary

*Scored 23 points on the day

*Was a monster on the boards collecting a good number of rebounds on the day

*Never stopped hustling.  Played with a high motor

*Defended at a high level the entire game

*Showed a level of defensive versatility by not only defending down low on the block, but also stepping out and defending at at high level

*Ran the floor well

*Was very active around the rim

*Finished well around the rim

*Did a good job of playing the passing lanes.  Caused a lot of havoc on the defensive end

*Showed the ability to step out and knock down the outside shot

 

Will Allen (Class Of ’21) 6-8 PF/C – Bonnabel

*Scored 24 points

*Was a dominant low post force on both ends

*Played extremely well through double teams

*Shot the ball very well from the free throw line

*Caused havoc on the defensive end blocking and disrupting shots at a high level

*Ran the floor hard the entire day.  Excellent rim runner

*Rebounded the ball at a high level

*Passed well out of the double team and from the post

*Never stopped playing hard and husting to make plays

*Scored in the post anytime he wanted

*Showed his ability to step out from the paint and defend on the perimeter

 

Zach Fenn (Class Of ’22) 6-2 Guard – St. Pauls

*Played scrappy, in your face defense

*Played with great effort and intensity on both ends

*Was in attack mode the entire day constantly driving and finishing plays at the rim

*Was able to penetrate through the defense very well

*Scored 20 points on the day

*Was not afraid of the moment playing against bigger, stronger competition

*High basketball I.Q.

*Did a good job of handling the job and breaking down his defender

*Made some excellent passes

 

Jamal Drewery (Class Of ’25) – Southern Lab

*Scored 18 points on the day

*Hit a number of big shots in the game, especially in the 2nd half down the stretch

*Never cracked under pressure.  Played with the poise and experience of a Senior

*Made a number of good defensive plays (Was totally engaged defensively the entire game)

*Did an excellent job of running the offense

*Did not make many mistakes and took very good shots

*Excellent court vision and ball handles

*Did a good job of keeping his team settled and under control

 

Nick Green (Class Of ’21) 6-2 Guard – Crescent City

*Shot the ball efficiently from behind the 3-point line

*Was very assertive on the defensive end constantly pressuring the ball handler

*Moved well without the ball to get to his spots

*Very tough player

* Showcased excellent basketball instincts and sound decision making on both ends

*Played hard and hustled hard the entire game
